Ireland's Edge - Open Channels / Bealaigh Oscailte

Ireland’s Edge, the ideas and discussion strand of Other Voices, returns to Dingle for its tenth edition on the 29th and 30th of November as part of this year’s Other Voices festival.

The theme of this year’s programme, ‘Open Channels / Bealaigh Oscailte’ centres on themes of dialogue, movement and exchange, those powerful, often ambiguous forces that shape our relationship with our world. The words ‘Channel’  in English, and ‘Bealach’ in Irish, imply connection and communication. Ireland’s Edge for the past ten years now has itself been a channel, a way through the noise and chatter; a space in which people and ideas meet up; a forum where a diversity of voices and perspectives are brought to bear on the developments that define and redefine our world every day. This tenth edition will seek to give voice to why this kind of collective discourse and exchange is so indispensable to our shared future.

As the world becomes ever more fractured, from the level of the community, to the transnational, movement and discourse in turn have become more fraught. This year, we will ask what lessons we can take from our global, and indeed national, past and present, and what policy makers, leaders and citizens might do to keep the channels open.

With a compelling lineup of speakers, panellists and performers, drawn from the worlds of politics, media, technology and creativity in its broadest sense, Open Channels / Bealaigh Oscailte will investigate how openness, the ability to both transmit and receive, to welcome and be welcomed, to speak and to listen, is a vital resource upon which our societies depend. See below for the full programme schedule, and book your spot now here.

RTÉ 2FM Rising

2FM Rising, presented by Beta Da Silva, champions emerging Irish talent across a variety of genres. This year’s 2FM Rising artists bringing their incredible talent to Other Voices Dingle are Brad Heidi, Big Sleep, Sick Love, Saibh Skelly and Chubby Cat. Each will perform intimate sets in front of live audiences and showcase why they remain some of Ireland’s most exciting emerging acts.

Their performances in Dingle are a highlight of the Rising programme, giving these artists the opportunity to connect with music lovers and industry figures alike in one of the country’s most iconic settings. They'll be taking over the schedule on Friday and Saturday in Adams Bar (see below), and entry is included with your Music Trail wristband.

FAQs

Does this wristband get me into the Church shows?

No, this wristband is for the Jameson Music Trail only plus Banter and Cogar events. Keep an eye on our socials for a chance to win a spot at the St. James' Church shows! Why we don't sell church tickets.

Does this wristband guarantee me access to shows?

Please be aware that many of the Jameson Music Trail venues are intimate. This is part of the magic of Other Voices! Access to each venue will be on a first come, first served basis with queues expected for most gigs and venues. We advise going early to catch the acts you want to see. Most acts will play twice giving you two opportunities to see your favourites!

On our beautiful new Other Voices Live app you can see what the capacities are for each venue and how many people are planning on going to each show, allowing you to get a sense of how busy each show will be!

Where can I find info about who is playing and what times?

You can now download the Other Voices Live app! It will be fully updated next week with Other Voices Dingle info. This is the best place to get up to date info about timetables, artists, venues and any announcements and schedule changes that may happen over the weekend.

You can also use the app to create your own personal schedule, allowing you to plan like a pro!

Search for 'Other Voices Live' on Google Play and the App Store, or click here.

Can I get into Jameson Music Trail shows with the Eventbrite ticket on my phone?

You must collect a wristband from the Other Voices Hub before you can enter any Jameson Music Trail venues. Wristbands are essential for attending any shows on the Music Trail.

How do I collect wristbands?

You can collect your wristband from the Other Voices Hub over the weekend of the festival. The Hub is located at the café unit in the row of shops in front of the Lidl on Spa Road. It has parking in the back for easy access to the Hub. If you've been to Other Voices in the last few years it's in the same location.

What times are the Other Voices Hub open?

The Hub will be open for the following times

Thursday 28th Nov - 5-7pm

Friday 29th Nov & Saturday 30th Nov - 12-10pm

Sunday 1st Dec - 12-4pm

Please factor this into your travel plans for coming to Dingle. We will not be able to stay open past these hours and someone else will not be able to collect your wristband (more detail on this below!)

Can I collect someone else’s wristbands?

No, each person must come to the Hub themselves to have their wristband put on their wrist by our team.

Why can’t I collect wristbands for someone else?

To ensure the security and health and safety of all festival goers it is necessary for the team at the Hub to put wristbands on the wrist of the person using the wristband. This is to ensure that they are on properly and don’t fall off or that they cannot be used by multiple people. This is standard practice across all festivals that use wristbands.

If someone has access needs that mean they cannot physically come into the Hub one of the team can come to a car in the car park by Lidl to put the wristband on.

It’s very important that you make time to come to the Hub to get your wristband. We move through queues as quickly as we can to make sure you can enjoy as much on the Jameson Music Trail as possible!

Does this wristband get me into Ireland’s Edge?

No, this wristband is for the Jameson Music Trail only. See Eventbrite for the latest ticketing info for Ireland’s Edge.

Does this wristband get me into Banter & Cogar?

Yes, you can access these strands with your wristband.

Can I buy merch at the Hub?

Yes, all Other Voices merch will be available to buy at the Hub during the following times.

Friday 29th Nov from 12pm - 8pm

Saturday 30th Nov from 12pm - 6pm

Sunday 1 Dec from 12pm - 4pm.

We only accept card payments.

Does this wristband get me into Powers Golden Hours?

No, this wristband is for the Jameson Music Trail only. Limited tickets remain for Powers Golden Hours here.

If you have any other queries please email ticketing@othervoices.ie and allow some time for a response as we are in the run up to the event!
