We're delighted to announce that OV will return to Cork this September for another extraordinary night of live music in collaboration with University College Cork.

Taking place on Thursday 28 September, and hosted by MayKay, Other Voices at UCC will continue to celebrate the phenomenal breadth and diversity of Irish music right now. Following the huge success of last year’s Other Voices ‘Bringing It All Back Home: UCC’, this year’s event promises another evening of artistic brilliance and unmissable performances taking place live and online.

Chart-topping pop-rock group Picture This, Choice Music Prize nominated singer-songwriter Niamh Regan, Cork’s own alt-rock six-piece Cardinals and critically acclaimed Ballymun hip-hop-jazz collective Bricknasty are among the first Irish acts to be announced. The event will also feature a soaring Other Voices debut from Sekou - the 18 year old rising star of UK soul with more artists to be announced soon.

2022’s inaugural event captured the imagination of music fans around the world with outstanding live sets from Cork’s own Cian Ducrot who this month topped the charts in Ireland and the UK with his debut album Victory, Mercury Prize nominee SOAK, industry favourite Biig Piig and many more.

Music fans can watch the performances for free on Other Voices’ YouTube and Facebook platforms and can set a reminder now

A limited number of golden tickets for the recording of the performances will be available via the Other Voices at UCC public lottery, with additional tickets will also be made available through competitions in the coming weeks.

Beyond the livestreams we'll be shining a spotlight on UCC's talent with the ‘Other Voices of UCC’ warm up shows taking place in The Hub from 1pm - 3pm.

We've also just launched the brand new ‘UCC Amplified’ Open Call, which will give one lucky act the chance to play at ‘Other Voices of UCC’ and follow in the footsteps of Dermot Kennedy, Fontaines D.C., Pillow Queens and more by performing on the Dingle Distillery Music Trail later this year at Other Voices Dingle. Full details on the submission process are available here.

This collaborative livestream is made possible through the partnership of South Wind Blows, Other Voices, and UCC, with the generous support of the Department of Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht, as well as Bank of Ireland.

Other Voices Founder Philip King said: We are delighted to bring Other Voices back home to University College Cork and to build on the success of last year's wonderful outing on the most beautiful campus in the country. The music will be just wonderful with a really special appearance by Picture This in the Aula Maxima before they headline two huge shows in the 3 Arena in October. Our mission at Other Voices has always been to celebrate what's about to happen and the musical life of UCC will be celebrated across the campus with performances in The Honan Chapel The Glucksman Gallery and The Aula Max. We are grateful to UCC and to The Bank Of Ireland for the opportunity to deepen and strengthen our relationship with the University and to enhance and enrich the student experience.’
UCC President John O’Halloran said: “Other Voices at UCC is a window into our beautiful campus and a celebration of creativity. We’re delighted to welcome Philip, MayKay and the Other Voices crew back to UCC this September. Last year’s event was a joyous occasion that brought wonderful music to our campus and showcased UCC around the world, with thousands tuning in from countries across the globe. I also want to thank Bank Of Ireland, without whose generous support this event would not happen.”
Ian McMorrough, Director - Area South, Bank of Ireland said: “Bank of Ireland are proud to continue their partnership with UCC and Other Voices in supporting access to cultural events on campus and online. The 2023 lineup for Other Voices guarantees a fantastic evening for those attending at UCC or tuning in from around the world. Bank of Ireland wishes everybody involved the very best of luck”
