This week on Other Voices: CMAT, The Joy, Mick Flannery & Lucy McWilliams

February 27, 2024

We're back in Dingle for Series 22 of Other Voices! ⛪ The incredible CMAT, Mick Flannery, Lucy McWilliams and The Joy star in Episode 1.

It's been a whirlwind year for Other Voices, and we're finally able to bring you televised sets from Dingle, Cork and West Wales. For Episode 1, we're back in our beloved homeland of the Dingle peninsula in stunning Co. Kerry, where it all began. And what a lineup we have in store for viewers!

CMAT

The new series kicks off with a storming performance by BRIT Award nominee and reigning RTÉ Choice Music Prize winner CMAT, who brings her boundless star presence to the Church for the very first time after performing at Other Voices twice previously. The Dubliner delivers tracks from her 2021 debut album If My Wife New I'd Be Dead and 2023 follow up Crazymad! For Me to the delighted audience - marking Ciara Marie Alice Thompson's first time setting foot onto our revered St James' Church stage.

MICK FLANNERY

Cherished Cork songsmith and Other Voices favourite Mick Flannery brings his compassionate folk storytelling back to Dingle. After signing to John Prine’s label Oh Boy Records last year, he recently released his eighth studio album Goodtime Charlie, as the imprint’s first international signing. Don't miss his Episode 1 performance in St James' Church, where the soft-spoken musician offers fresh tracks and old favourites.

THE JOY

South African group The Joy come to Dingle - and Ireland - for the first time this week, exclusively to perform for Other Voices. In a very special moment, the band bring traditional Zulu music with contemporary a cappella elements to the Church, and enrapture everyone who listens. Transcending both genre and continents; the five-piece band’s first release was only in 2021, but they're definitely going places.

LUCY MCWILLIAMS

Over in the IMRO Other Room, filmed at our new WAVE venue, Dublin singer-songwriter Lucy McWilliams performs spell-binding, delicate new singles for her debut set. A sparse, no frills experience, her unique vocals and vulnerable storytelling offer something totally special to the crowd.
