Other Voices IMRO Other Room Special this Thursday on RTÉ 2 // 23.25

January 26, 2017

Filmed in front of a live audience, the Other Room is all about shining a light on fresh, exciting music from Ireland.

In previous years, it's given television debuts to acts such as James Vincent McMorrow, Villagers and Lisa O'Neill. Across the series so far, we've featured standalone performances from a diverse range of emerging acts, but tonight's episode brings them together in a one hour special on RTÉ 2.

Ailbhe Reddy

On this week's show:

Outstanding performance and chat from singer-songwriter Róisín O. Due to release her second album this year, Róisín O is a multi-faceted vocalist whose songwriting mixes elements of folk, blues, soul and pop. Ambitious post-rock ensemble Overhead, The Albatross showcase songs from their epic debut album 'Learning To Growl'. Alt-folk songstress Ailbhe Reddy performs songs rich with emotional honesty and vulnerability, while Moon Looks On inspire comparisons to the Waterboys and Van Morrisson playing a soulful set with a trad sensibility. Sibling duo Cry Monster Cry deliver lyrics with peerless harmonies and riff-masters Fangclub turn the volume up with their high-energy grunge.
