Other Voices at Latitude - Line up revealed!

This summer, Latitude will welcome and play proud host to one of Ireland’s most unusual musical events. In keeping with the ethos of Other Voices, festival-goers can expect intimate, one-off performances from Irish and International artists.

Irish Times journalist Jim Carroll will be joining line – up at Latitude, with his well-travelled conversation series Banter. The Banter Salon has become a firm favourite at Other Voices in Dingle over the last few years and this year will host some enthralling conversations and a special musical appearance from Rozi Plain at Latitude.

Performing this year will be The Unthanks who were nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and the only British folk representation in The Guardian’s and Uncut’s best albums of the last decade (worldwide, all genres), All We Are, who are inspired by a shared love of hip-hop and soul music, Guro calls their sound “psychedelic boogie”. Booka Brass Band is group of eight musicians whose unique offering and incredible live energy has brought them an unusual level of success in their first year together.

British alternative, folk band Stornoway, who's sound incorporates an ever-changing selection of stringed instruments and keyboards, supported by a typical pop backline of guitar, drums and bass guitar. Jape is an Irish electronic rock band led by Richie Egan. Jape has released four albums to date and is the only artist to have won the Choice Music Price twice. Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers, frame themselves as a "psychedelic hip hop boy band", a lively trio that have developed a reputation for making a unique blend of music utilising diverse influences.

London-based East India Youth combines strikingly original music with euphoric live performances and has quickly become recognised as one of the most experimental and captivating artists around. Known for their shapeshifting line-ups – morphing from a duo to a psychdelia-tinged electric five piece - This Is The Kit, London Based singer- songwriter Rozi Plain the serene and soulful singer bringing songs from her new album released this May andin a crowded field of outstanding Irish fiddle players and interpreters of traditional music, Colm Mac Con Iomaire is unique. Colm went on to found and play with The Frames, who celebrate 25 years together in 2015. Colm’s compositions have featured in both film and theatre.

Given their seclusion, it is perhaps unsurprising that Bleeding Heart Pigeons have forged an entirely singular sound. They are quietly operatic, theatrical in the Beckettian sense, making music that warps and dismembers the fundamental tropes of alternative rock. All Tvvins is a new band which is primarily characterised by synthetic or treated vocals, vocoder, talkbox and Autotune-style effects and production that features the energetic pace of ’80s electro pop and the spirit of anthemic rock of that same era. Zachary Lucky truly is the bread and butter of the massive Canadian folk scene. With an emphasis on songwriting and an ear for delicate arrangements - Lucky's songs will haunt you and remind you of what country and western music was originally conceived as.

Irish alternative rock bank Fight Like Apes and electronic 4-piece Le Galaxie also join the Other Voices line up, alongside Leeds based artist, Eaves, also known as Joseph Lyon, who has gone from releasing his own EPs to supporting the likes of Nick Mulvey, and Slow Club in the last year.
