This week on Other Voices: Biig Piig, Cian Ducrot, Susan O'Neill, Yenkee, Pretty Happy, Rufous Nightjar & SOAK

February 28, 2023

MayKay is bringing it all back home to Cork on this week's show with some of the very best of Irish talent ❤️

BIIG PIIG

The genre bending Biig Piig aka Cork born Jess Smith hits the OV stage for the first time in the stunning Aula Maxima at UCC. As one of modern pop’s genuine one-offs, she’s been busy gaining a reputation as one of the most live performers - tune in to see why.

CIAN DUCROT

West Cork born, London based singer, songwriter and producer Cian Ducrot's star has been rising at lightning speed since hitting the scene in 2020. Fresh off a string of huge releases including a recent collaboration with Ella Henderson, we were thrilled to bring him home to Cork for a very special Other Voices debut.

SUSAN O'NEILL

Susan O'Neill might just be one of music's best kept secrets - but not for much longer. We were lucky to her perform with a full band for a very special performance. Her magnetic vocals were a sight to see at UCC last year and you've got another chance to catch her in action this Thursday.

YENKEE

Cork's own Graham Cooney aka Yenkee has spent the past few years making dreamy tunes packed full of wit, insight and magnetic hooks. As one of the brilliant Soft Boy Records collective, his frank and honest lyrics paired with his otherworldly, intimate approach have gained him a genuine cult following. He's carrying us away this Thursday with an otherworldy performance.

PRETTY HAPPY

We've gone more homegrown brilliance on this week's show coming from art-punk Cork three piece Pretty Happy shook the Glucksman Gallery to its core with an electrifying performance.

RUFOUS NIGHTJAR

We'll also be bringing you the ethereal sounds of Rufous Nightjar from stunning Honon Chapel. Born out of friendship & musical collaboration this beautiful new project features the voices of Branwen Kavanagh, Anna Mieke & Zoe Basha.

SOAK

It had been a decade since Mercury Prize nominee SOAK first came to Dingle at just 15 and stole our hearts. On this week's Other Voices they give us another beautiful OV moment, playing songs from their blistering new record 'If I never knew you like this again' in the Aula Maxima.

You can catch all of this, plus lots more this Thursday 2 March at 11pm on RTÉ2 or tune in worldwide on the RTÉ Player.
