The story began during the Other Voices Music Trail in 2019.
Project curator Áine Ní Chíobháin began to ask artists to send their words and images responding to the event, music, the area and more. The book is in Irish, English and Welsh. Stories about music heroes, Corca Dhuibhne, a secret festival fairy, raps from the heart, and poems about the pilgrimage to Dingle were made specially for Letterpress. We put together the book COGAR, a collection of art, lyrics, raps and poems and it is available as a special edition. Throughout this project a contrast between new versus old, from a gentle nod to a shout, and digital technology versus the penmanship of ancient manuscripts is apparent. We are away from the cheers of the crowds, but this whisper is loud.

Taispeánann sé, leis, na saothair ealaíne i bhfoirm léaráidí monatón chomh maith le híomhánna péinteáilte a tháinig ar an bhfód mar thoradh ar na saothair lámhscríofa agus phriontáilte seo.

Tá an bailiúchán ilteangach seo fréamhaithe don gcuid is mó sa Ghaeilge, le roinnt aistriúchán as Béarla, agus le hamhrán amháin i mBreatnais.

“COGAR is a collection of lyrics, raps and poems, presented in collaboration with Other Voices. Following on from a series of music video premieres as part of Other Voices Dingle 2020, this online exhibition encompasses poems and lyrics that are both printed with Ponc Press letterpress and handwritten.  The collection showcases the artworks in the form of mono-tone illustrations and painted images that arose in response to these printed and handwritten works.

This multilingual collection of artworks is rooted mostly in Irish, with some translations in English, and features a song in Welsh.

There will be a limited edition of the printed book available to pre-order directly from Ponc Press, with fifty per cent of proceeds going to the Simon Community and Pieta House.”
