Seán Potts

Son of ex-Chieftain whistle player Sean Potts, piper Sean Og Potts has become a well-known musician in his own right, from the time of his participation in Bakerswell with his father and in the Donal Lunny Band. His solo album very much meets the expectations one might have based on his past recordings. His technique is impressive, particularly his staccato playing and handling of the regulators, as is his manipulating of traditional melodies to suit the piping idiom--listen for instance to his setting of "Frost is All Over" or of the old chestnust "The Merry Blacksmith." And it doesn't hurt that Potts' Andreas Rogge "flat" (B) and concert sets sound absolutely gorgeous. The Potts name has been synonymous with Piping for generations. Seán performs and teaches worldwide and is a regular teacher at the Piper's Club in Dublin. Seán's closed-fingering, vibrant style is influenced largely by Ennis, Reck and Clancy.
