Ruth McGinley

Derry-born pianist Ruth McGinley first gained national recognition at a young age, winning the piano final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year. She has since performed as soloist with orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, London Mozart Players, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, NSO, and Ulster Orchestra, and has appeared at venues including the National Concert Hall, Barbican, Southbank Centre, and the Kennedy Centre.

After a period away from the concert platform, she returned with her debut album Reconnection and was invited to perform at the BBC Proms in the Park. Her recording Aura, with composer Neil Martin, reimagines traditional Irish airs through a contemporary classical lens.

Driven by a deep curiosity and a desire to connect beyond genre, Ruth has developed an expressive voice at the piano shaped by collaborations across classical, jazz, folk, electronic, and film music, always returning to emotional depth and the human heart of music.
