Herein is a list of festival tips and tricks picked up over the merry years, along with some of our favourite picnic activities and haunts. See yiz there with bells on.

Personalize It

For the love of god, personalize your tent. Bring a flag, fairy lights, a totem pole, anything that differentiates your tent from the sea of identical others. Speaking from personal experience, after a long day and night of picnic devilment, finding an unmarked tent can be quite an emotional ordeal. Spare yourself that pain and make it easy for your tired self. Mark Yo tent! Also, beware pitching your tent beside a tree(s), they tend to become urinals – you’ve been warned.

Free Stuff!

Picnic is a pricey weekend, so all free stuff is welcome, especially food to nourish your festival weary bones. With so many sponsored areas on site, we’ve heard whispers that there will be a many a freebie to be picked up. In previous years, onesies, hats, bags, glow sticks and cake (who doesn’t love cake) have been there for the taking. This year, look out for Just Eat’s nifty wayfarer shades that double as a bottle opener – such genius. You will end – perish the thought! - your Picnic adventures with some solid swag.

Embrace the Outdoors…

Camping for three days is tough. Fact. It will be cold, damp and dirty. However, the insane amount of fun to be had easily outweighs the slight discomfort of sleeping rough. Bring baby wipes, toilet paper and hand sanitizer - dry shampoo is also essential for the gals- . Thick wooly socks are also a must for sleeptime – your poor feet wouldn’t be long getting frostbite! In the immortal words of Natasha Bedingfield, ‘Release your inhibitions , feel the rain on your skin’. ..Or you could just head to The Pink Pamper which will cater to all your beauty needs ensuring that you feel only gorgeous!

The Body and Soul Glass House Bar

Go and seek out this botanic disco box in the Body and Soul Village where they’ve upped the ante with a bigger area, a savage new drinks menu with bags of tunes and glamour to bring the party. Part art installation, part cocktail bar, part party! We likey. PS – While you’re moseying around the Body and Soul area have little swing in their hammocks and take in the glorious wonderland they’ve created.

Order your drink before you arrive at the festival and pick it up on site!

Come to the off licence on the Jimi Hendrix campsite from 12.00 noon Friday, Saturday and 12.30pm Sunday. Collect your order with your email address and order number (don't forget to bring I.D. to confirm your name and verify your age). Pay for your order on collection. There is also a room that will chill your cans. Enjoy your cold drinks!

PS! -Glass bottles are forbidden on site. Save your precious drank and money, and don’t bring em’.

24 Hour Burrito Buzzers (real name unknown – soon to be ascertained)

We have aptly dubbed this burrito van ‘Burrito Buzzers’ as the vendors boogie like it’s 1999 as they assemble your succulent wrap. Day or night, rain or shine these burrito boys are always buzzing, and their mood is infectious. Their burritos are darn tasy too. You will find them in the Hendrix, go forth and burrito!

The Tea Tent

If you’re feeling a little down-trodden and festival weary, go and have a cup of tea in the oh so cosy tea tent to still you’re trembling soul. Where the vibe is a mixture between the shire and Mr Tumnys’s house (our favorite fawn!)

The Other Voices Stage!

Now, we couldn’t possibly leave our own stage off this lovely list. Our fabulous crew have been hard at work over the last few days, making sure our stage is ready to play host to the glorious people of Electric Picnic! You’ll find us in the woods, just between Salty Dog and Trenchtown. The hearts in the trees will guide you to Other Voices, where your ears be greeted by sounds of wonderful artists such as East India Youth, The Staves, Wyvern Lingo, Booka Brass Band, Gavin James and many many more playing over the weekend.
