November 23 2009 – Other Voices 8 – The hallowed eaves of St. James’ Church in Dingle are bracing themselves once again for the next round in Ireland’s most eclectic TV music series, as Other Voices gears up for the recording of its eighth installment from Saturday December 5th to Wednesday December 9th.
A slew of Irish and international stars and emerging local heroes have been lined up to take the stage in Ireland’s venerable rock n’ roll chapel and while producers are keeping schtum as to the exact details of the visiting artists, Snow Patrol, Richard Hawley, The xx and The Temper Trap are amongst those who are expected to perform intimate live sets in front of a small number of blessed music fans. Other Voices will continue to support the burgeoning Irish music scene, by providing a much needed TV platform for the cream of Ireland’s new musical talent.
Tickets for each of the Other Voices recordings, Saturday December 5th to Wednesday December 9th inclusive, will go on sale on Monday November 23rd at 9am from www.tickets.ie. All tickets will be priced at €35 including booking fee. As is the nature of television recording, it will not be possible to announce each evening’s line up until closer to the recordings. Early booking is essential, with only 60 tickets per night available. Historically, each show has been an immediate sell out. Booking is limited to two tickets per person and a maximum of two nights per person.
BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac, one of Ireland’s brightest media exports, will be presenting the series this year and is looking forward to welcoming over twenty bands to Dingle. Annie divides her time between numerous BBC radio shows, live festival broadcasts, TV presenting and club DJing in the UK.
Over the years, the recording of the Other Voices television series has become a music festival in its own right. The beautiful town of Dingle provides the perfect backdrop for a diverse gathering of musical minds from across all genres of music. Over 250 acts have provided exclusive performances for the programme including Rufus and Martha Wainwright, Steve Earle, Amy Winehouse, Elbow, Damien Rice, Super Furry Animals, Ray Davies, Ryan Adams, Daniel Lanois, Alabama 3, The Charlatans, Seasick Steve, James Blunt and Peter, Bjorn and John.
Other Voices is produced by South Wind Blows and will be broadcast on RTÉ Two in early 2010.
