Northern Irish indie rockers General Fiasco will play two separate gigs in Belfast’s Stiff Kitten, the first one being on Friday June 15th and the second on July 27th. As previously noted they play Dublin’s Academy in-between these two dates, on June 29th.

Dubliner’s The Corona’s are to play Belfast’s Mandela Hall on Saturday June 2nd, the first Irish performance of what is set to be a busy, festival filled, summer for the guys.

Richard Hawley has released his seventh solo album, entitled ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’. The Sheffield artist presents quite a different sound in his new release to that of his previous work, notably 2009’s Truelove’s Gutter. Early reviews suggest this is definitely an album worth hearing.

Other Voices artists feature heavily in this year’s Castlepalooza Music and Arts Festival lineup, with Jape, King Charles, Little Green Cars and The Ambience Affair having been slated to perform so far, with more to come hopefully. Taking place once again in the historic grounds of Charleville Castle, the festival will be looking to maintain the high standards of last year’s event, which saw it nominated for ‘Best Small Festival’ in the European Festival Awards.

King Charles, who appeared at Other Voices 10, has released his debut album this week. Entitled ‘LoveBlood’, the ten track album was put together in LA and kick starts what promises to be a big summer for the Londoner, who is set to tour the European festival scene extensively over the coming months, including an Irish date at Castlepalooza Music and Arts Festival in Tullamore in August.

Cast of Cheers and Noah and the Whale will play on August 23rd as part of Belfast’s Belsonic Festival. Two Door Cinema Club will also play on the night, which takes place in Custom House Square. The festival has proven to be a favourite for Other Voices artists, having been well represented last year also by the likes of Elbow and The Villagers.

Anna Calvi will play two nights in Belfast at the start of June, supporting Happy Mondays on the 1st and Ghostpoet on the 2nd. Both gigs are staged in T13, a converted warehouse in the shadow of the famous Harland and Wolff shipyards, sure to be an atmospheric setting.

Dublin’s Vicar Street will play host to The Rise Benefit Concert. Along with a selection of artists, including American folk singer/songwriter John Prine, other Voices performer Paddy Casey will take part on the night.

The concert is part of ‘Rise Week’, aimed at building awareness for The Rise Foundation, which is aimed at helping the families of those suffering from addictions. All proceeds from the night will go to the charity.
